Things last longer than you might expect

A very common theme that I have seen is that we usually try to underestimate the actual time that it is necessary for us to finish the tasks that we want to do. We underestimate the task, seeing it easier than it actually is, or overestimating ourselves, thinking that we are capable of finishing this task pretty fast. There is another factor that can make things take a longer period time to get accomplished than we initially anticipated: the unexpected events that might occur. Continue reading

Overcome your initial resistance by building a momentum

Even the most productive people that seem to accomplish a lot have their own struggles of working on their tasks. It might sound a bit surprising, however these people simply find ways of dealing with these inner battles and get their job done. They do not see motivation as a prerequisite to start working. They are aware of the initial resistance that comes along them each time they want to go to the gym, or start typing the report letter. Despite that, they still are effective and get the work done, without being victims of excuses. Continue reading

Additionally, it is very likely that this might also happen in the future. However, a question that the founder and CEO of Amazon has used before starting one of the largest companies in the world, Jef Bezos can help us. Continue reading

Most of us engage in behaviors that we are ashamed that we do, and that we know we should not do, but still we engage in them, because of the people that we spend our time with. There might be different reasons for this weird attachment of us with these old behaviors, but it is also possible for us to break the chain and remove this burden. We can simply stop doing them, without having to overthink and paralyze ourselves.

Do not quit forming new habits because of some failed initial attempts

Our daily life is consisted of patterns of behaviors and thought processes that we have been doing on a regular basis, that we also call them as habits. Whether we are aware of them or not, we do them. If we want to improve the quality of our lives, we must first try to form new habits that can be as means of achieving our goals in different areas like health, relationships, finance, or career. We think that when we have decided to form a new habit and planned our new behavior in detail, we will be able to perform it each day as planned. That is far from the truth. We might have a lot of failing attempts in the beginning that might even tempt us to think that we are simply not good at forming new habits and decide to not continue with the habit formation at all. Do only the things that you cannot be replaced at

Last night a tragic car accident that happened only a few minutes after I was traveling at a place of the city with a friend was an intense experience for me. I saw a few young boys being carried out the car that was turned upside down, with their faces filled with blood. Soon after I got home, I understood from a local news website that a 30 year old driver that was involved in this accident died. Continue reading

Log your activites: Find the things that are wasting your time

LogActivitiesIf you find yourself jumping from one activity to another and you still do not know why you are not able to accomplish all the things that you planned the day before, then it is probably a good idea to start logging your time. What do I mean by that is taking a pen and a piece of paper, or if you want, you use a smartphone, and start writing everything that you do from the moment you get up from bed, until the moment you go to back to sleep in the evening. Write down each activity that you did during that day and also put the time duration that it took you to do that. Continue reading

Don’t use a tool, before asking yourself if you really need it

We live in a society that is dived deeply into a variety of applications, where a lot of us are constantly jumping from one app to another because somebody else is using it, or because we have heard that it got 5 stars in a review. However, if tools are only means to accomplish our goals, shouldn’t we hesitate to start using these new applications that come out each day, and rather try to have a specific objective of aiming before using them? What keeps you up late?

Last week I wrote an article about a very important question that we should ponder and reflect a lot about, which has to do with finding the reasons and the factors that drive us to be more productive and more engaged in things that we do. If you are not able to find any answer to that question, as it might sound a bit vague and strange to identify something in particular that is motivating you, then you might ask yourself another similar question that can unlock hidden sources of inspiration in you.
