We are all impressed by success stories, like how incredible was Michael Jordan in basketball, or how smart was Bill Gates in programming to develop such a great operating system. These stories tend to orient us into thinking that these types of results are easy. We only see their results, and nobody mentions the efforts they put and the pain they had felt during the journey of achieving that desirable level of expertise which then produced remarkable results. Moreover, our process of thinking tends to picture them as incredible and as good since their beginnings as they were during their peak performances.

Also, when you first hear Coca-Cola being mentioned, probably the first thing that might pop up in your mind might be that of a very successful company that everybody has heard about, and that it has always had this type of success in the past. However, the truth is too far from that. You might find it unbelievable to hear that Coca-Cola sold only 25 bottles the first year they started working. Though they sold so few bottles, they did not stop there and they did not give up because of such small attention of customers for their product. They continued with their work and the rest is history.

Usually these types of stories have something in common: successful people were not always successful. During a period of time they were beginners like me and you, but they did their homework and put enough efforts to master their craft through countless hours of deep work and resulted with an impact in their respective fields that make them noticeable in the world.

There are probably a few small actions that you know that you should be doing which if would have been done regularly, could follow with amazing consequences that you might even get surprised. It is normal to get embarrassed and to fail here and there, but the most important thing is to not give up and keep doing the work, even when nobody else is watching. Sooner or later, your work might become a success story that might be mentioned across Coca-Colas, Bill Gates’s or Michael Jordan’s stories.
