It is true that these days the majority of the people around the world read a lot of more than they used to in the past, despite that they read mostly social media posts. There are still those people who read books for pleasure and try to fill up their horizons with different experiences, viewpoints and new words to their mental dictionary. Answering the question about the reason that you are reading a book, or an article can instantly improve the chances of benefiting by it.

When you know the reason why you are reading what you are reading, it is most likely that you will be more concentrated and have a more active connection and commitment to pay more attention about the content of the passages that you read. Believing and expecting to find an answer to a particular question that has been trembling you recently is a decent motivator to read and to be more careful while reading. You might have been having some problems that you have been trying to solve, but couldn’t, despite the best of your efforts.

Books are the best conserved forms of knowledge and knowing that it is highly likely that somebody before had been wondering about the question that is worrying you now, or that particular problem that you have, you are more likely to be a person who reads. Not only reads, but who also has a purpose and a goal that wants to accomplish, and admits that reading is only a mere means of attaining his goal. Though reading can be entertaining, it should be seen as something that we should act upon with the best of our abilities, depending on the circumstances that we are in. This change about the approach we take about reading will not only give us a more enjoyable time spent doing it. Changing the habits means changing life.

Having this type of connection and mindset about reading should not just give answers to our questions or solutions to our problems. It should lead us to a better lifestyle, a more fulfilling life and an overall improvement of our character and our virtues.
